Measure Your Results
- Before you tape any commercials or public service announcements that may be a part of your project, be sure to schedule a meeting a day or two before to discuss exactly what you will be taping. This will make the taping go much more smoothly.
- Use storyboards — they’ll help you plan for the meeting and can show exactly what will be happening in the scenes, frame by frame.
- Set the scenes — identify how many people you may need to cast and call out the locations for filming.
- Remember to collect signed waiver forms from everyone who will be appearing in a video of any sort.
- Think about wardrobe. Be sure everyone who will appear is clear on what they should wear.
- Avoid overtly using brand name logos on products or wardrobe.
- Location is critical. Be prepared for rain if you plan to tape outside. And always have a backup plan — either another day to tape or an alternative indoor location.
- Make sure you have appropriate lighting for what you are taping or photographing.
- Check with your parents and teachers to ensure they’re comfortable with your work. And share your ideas with them before taping — they might just have a few tips of their own!
