Norfolk Senior High School
Youth Optimist members at Norfolk Senior High are addressing the prevalent issue of driving while texting or "inTEXTication" among their peers. Studies have shown the reaction time of "inTEXTicated" drivers is nearly three times slower than that of intoxicated drivers and that steering control is reduced by as much as 90%. Even so, many teens and some adults continue to do it. Through the use of the media, community resources, and some creative thinking, we intend to make it real to young people in the community as well as those adults who drive under the influence of texting.
