Ridgemont Jr./Sr. High School
Ridgemont High School's goal for the Risks on "Ridgemont’s Rural Roads" grant is to raise awareness through service-learning projects that emphasize the necessity of rural driving safety. This will be accomplished through an interactive, proactive event directed toward teen drivers as well as their parents. The Ridgemont Project Ignition Grant (PIG) Committee, which is comprised of student leaders, is going to complete a campaign revolving around three areas. One area of concern is the lower use of seat belts in rural areas. Another focuses on sharing the road with large slow-moving farm machinery on the associated dangers. The last issue we will address is on distracted driving which includes texting and underage alcohol consumption. This program will be conducted through the FFA Chapter in conjunction with the school's FCCLA, student council and the following classes: health, physics, agricultural education and family and consumer sciences.
