Atrisco Heritage Academy High School

Atrisco Heritage Academy High School is participating in Project Ignition for the first time this year. Our project is titled "Albuquerque is Lookin' Up." Why? Because we're not lookin' down at our cell phones and texting while driving! We will be conducting a study of the dangers of cell phone use, creating television and radio ads, and collecting over 5,000 cell phones for recycling to bring awareness to the huge number of teens who will die this year from cell phone use. Finally, we will be traveling to Santa Fe, our state's capital, to meet with law makers about designing a bill to make texting while driving illegal in our state, and creating a "National Text-Out" day where we would be asking people not to text for one full day to bring awareness to the problem.
