Louisburg High School launched its “STAR Wars…a New Frontier” teen driver safety program with a series of activities, reaching classmates, the community, and eight league high schools. The 32-member team staged a mock crash, hosted a blood drive, produced two public service announcements, handed out more than 10,000 “LifeSaver” packets at football games, appeared on KCTV-5 Teen Star program, and hosted a Teen Safe Driving Summit for “Frontier League” schools. These schools, located in four counties, have formed a consortium to promote safe teen driving. This spring, STAR Warriors will testify at the state capital, present at KDOT’s annual conference, and help implement the Safe Routes to Schools federal grant program.
